In the earlier years, the world of folk dance presented me with a distinctive opportunity to immerse myself in understanding my own roots. This experience led me to contemplate my identity, allowing me to gain a comprehensive understanding of the values, customs, traditions, historical tales, legacies, and symbolism that are inherent in the communities where I was born and raised.
Dancing was always more than a mere stage performance. It was an avenue of self-discovery and comprehension. Discovering the satisfaction and sense of connection that arose from within is a form of appreciation for self, identity and origins.
It is, Wirama, Wiraga, and Wirasa (rhythm, movement character, and through feelings), the ultimate concepts to carry on in dancing that helps.
Later after, folk dance has further broadened my horizons, as it brought me unlocking the opportunity to celebrate diversity with my fellow folk dancers hailing from different parts of the globe.
My journey evolved beyond mere stage performances in my home country to engaging in cultural exchanges with a specific mission of spreading the beauty of folk dances. This experience proved to be truly eye-opening, as the exchange not only allowed me to showcase the richness of cultural traditions but also facilitated the sharing of values and beliefs. It furthermore has fostered mutual respect and promoted the appreciation of individuality.

Folkdance, as I observed throughout years of my journey, eventually serves as an effective medium of communication and a bridge between people, cultivating mutual understanding, nurturing friendships, and further contributing to the peacebuilding efforts.
Now, after several years of hiatus, I am eager to rekindle my passion for this art-form, and to reconnect with the best version of myself.
Although it may feel akin to starting from a scratch, I am honored to be diving back into the process.
Happy World Dance Day, Fellow Dancers!
